Kinda related: I picked up Tony Allen's "Black
Voices" (Comet) while in Chicago last weekend. Allen
was Fela Kuti's drummer. The album is produced by
Doctor L and has this sort of minimal african ska
meets breakbeat feel. Been enjoyin this one in the
car. Amid all the snow, it's bright. Is this Allen's
    first venture into this area?
Speakin of Doctor L, anyone know much about him? I
understand he's from Dublin, now residing in Paris.
Downloaded some cuts from his album "A Temple on Every
Corner" -- which I can't find. Like his stuff. Uses
lots of guitar samples and bluesy vocals over thick
basslines and synths. Someone online told me his newer
    stuff isn't as good.
