    >1. INTRO
    >It's been a while since some of you have heard new bits and pieces
    >from all the little studios in and around Berlin including the rest
    >Europe. Many people have asked questions about the happenings here
    >at the Sonar Kollektiv offices. Just for your information as to stop
    >further confusion. Sonar Kollektiv is the bureaucratique arm of
    >several labels with different label heads. Let's see what the labels
    >are up to. For those of you who get confused (as we sometimes get
    >dazed too) the following labels (in alphabetical order) are part of
    >the Sonar Kollektiv family:
    >Airdrops, Aspekte, Best Seven, Dialog, Mermaid, No Zession, Recreation.
    >
    >
    >2. FACTS
    >Recreation Recordings:
    >Dixon just left for the States for a little tour. He will be playing
    >New York, Miami, Madison and Chicago. The label is as busy as he is.
    >The artist Georg Levin will have a proper release out on July 23rd
    >after all of you have had a first taste from Dixon's second mix
    >compilation Off Limits II. It features a mix by Jimpster also known
    >for his projects Audiomontage and The Bays. The EP includes new
    >material. Georg Levin is currently working on his debut album.
    >
    >Georg Levin - "When I'm With You" - 12" - SR5005 - 23.07.2001
    >
    >The other upcoming 12" is also a deep vocal house joint featuring
    >Clara Hill. It was produced by the Stereoton producer Christian
    >Schellmann and is recreated by Dixon himself. This 12" includes a
    >dub and also the original version.
    >
    >Hill & Funès - "Don't Hesitate" - 12" - SR5006 - 15.10.2001
    >
    >Watch out for upcoming collaboration of the vocalists Clara Hill and
    >Georg Levin !!!
    >
    >Mermaid Recordings:
    >The other label with a part time house context within the Sonar
    >Kollektiv family is Mermaid Recordings. Daniel Paul, a man on a
    >mission, brings to us two new releases. The whole label seems to be
    >attracted to concept of space and gravity, a 'leitmotif'.
    >Volker Meitz reinterpreted Daniel Pauls track "Outta Space" creating
    >an eighties boogie monster that could let dancefloors explode.
    >Beware! This is not a part of the eighties revival.
    >The second featured mix got some fine tuning from Daniel Paul
    >himself and a man you all may know: Alexander Barck. Project name:
    >Twice.
    >
    >Daniel Paul - "Outta Space" - 12" - SMA6005 - 03.09.2001
    >
    >The proximate release brings in the sonic astronaut Hanno Leichtmann
    >aka Static with his second EP on Mermaid. You will be surprised what
    >he can do with Rhodes, 808, Vocoder MS20, MPC, Nord Modular and DRP
    >20.
    >
    >Static - "Relaxed Therein" - 12" - SMA6004 - 29.10.2001
    >
    >No Zession Recordings:
    >Micatone have been touring heavily for the last few months. Here we
    >have their strongest song from the album remixed by the French
    >project Mighty Bop. Soulful vocals elegantly plastered onto an afro
    >beat framework. The release comes along with a very scenic video.
    >
    >Micatone - "Step Into The Gallery" - 12"- SZ4006 - 17.09.2001
    >
    >Best Seven Records:
    >Ex Rockers Hi-Fi member Glyn Bush also known as Bigga Bush gives us
    >a glimpse of his upcoming album "Studio Don" on Best Seven Records.
    >Reggae vibes versus Brasilian percussion. His first 12" release
    >after the little 7" club hit "Me & Me Princess" on Best Seven. His
    >upcoming album "Studio Don" will feature everything from steel drum,
    >blaxploitation to "Funky Nassau" dancehall vibes.
    >
    >Lightning Head - "Message To The Tribes" - 12" - SB7005 - 01.10.2001
    >
    >Some of you may have missed off on the latest and third release of
    >the Best Seven Inch series The Last Skrolls of Hamaric - "How To
    >Find Royal Jelly" - a trancehall burner produced by Stereotyp and
    >the mighty Sugar B from Vienna.
    >
    >3. SK PIPELINE

    >V.A. - Dub Infusions Vol. 2 - Best Seven Rec. - SBCD0003 - Jan 2002
    >
    >4. JAZZANOVA BONUS TRACK
    >You may be wondering what the Jazzanova boys are up to. Currently
    >they are working on their debut album, which will feature different
    >vocalists and instrumentalists, e.g. Vikter Duplaix, Capital A,
    >Clara Hill and David Friedman. The album is due to be released on
    >Jazzanova-Compost-Records in February / March 2002.
    >Please take notice of the 12" preview "That Night / To Come"

"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side."
