For those in or near San Francisco...

    ------------------------------------------------------------------
BLASTHAUS PRESENTS: RAINER TRUBY, PEPE DELUXE on SUNDAY, MARCH 18
    ------------------------------------------------------------------

Rainer Trüby, a pioneer of downtempo "future jazz" from Germany's
influential Compost label joins eclectic big-beat conspirators
Pepe Deluxe (live) and Halifax's rising-star turntablist Buck65
for an eclectic evening of live performances and DJ-sets at the
Manhattan Lounge (3rd and Market Streets) on Sunday, March 18th.
Doors at 9pm. Tickets are $12 advance and $15 at the door.
    Tickets available online at http://www.ticketweb.com

Rainer Trüby is a former member of Germany's internationally well known
Compost-project A Forest Mighty Black from Freiburg in the Black Forest.

Diggin' in the vaults of his huge record collection he compiled the
fantastic and still in-demand European fusion compilations Glücklich
(Vol. I, II) and the Nitrogen - Trip Hop Sources From The
    Past-compilation
with Placebo and Michael Bundt for Compost Records. Vol. III of his
Glücklich series is freshly brewed! He also compiled with Gilles
    Peterson
"Talkin' Jazz III" for Talkin' Loud and a new compilation "Root Down 99"

    for Nuphonic Recordings.

Crossing the boundaries between retro and future jazz, funky beats,
jazzy house, brazil, boogie tunes and drum & bass, Rainer digs so deep
into music that he has developed an international following. Like-minded

producers like Gilles Peterson and Kruder/Dorfmeister consider him one
    of
their favorite DJs and regularly appear at his club in Germany. His
    regular
DJ sessions (Blue Note, Bar Rumba, Phönix Festival, Jazz Cafe) are truly

memorable and this rare US appearance will be no exception.

Rainer is joined by Finnish collective Pepe Deluxe performing a live
    set.
A cut-and-paste big-beat crossover act whose style resembles the
    frenetic
and kaleidoscopic beats and compositions of a trickster turntablist,
    Pepe
have repurposed jazz, hiphop and funk wax towards a never ending
    beat-diggling
production. Their recent "Super Sound," released domestically on Emporer
    Norton
Records, has been turning heads and ears across all divides and genres.

Finally the evening features Halifax-based hip-hopster, turntablist and
    MC
Buck65, whose mellowed-out head-bobbin beats have been described as
unconventional, multimediatrick and "some next-level shit"

Join us for all the fun at the Manhattan Lounge 699 Market Street at 3rd
    St.
Tickets are $12 presale at Aquarius, BPM, Housewares, and ticketweb.com
