    Dave Haynes (Inspirit Music) - Charts/Newsletter 22.10.01

Welcome to another fortnightly newsletter, written through fairly bleary
eyes after a heavy weekend. Excellent night on Friday with Hospital Records
    @ Herbal, London.
Cheers to Lucy and Tim for the guestees. Both rooms were awesome, absolutely
superb live vocals from Lianne Carrol. Here’s a pick of the best from that
    night…

    **Drum’n’Bass room**
Sunshine Anderson – Heard It All Before remix - ??
DJ Marky & XRS Land – LK – Movement
London Elektricity – Round The Corner – Hospital Records

    **Soulful 2-step / broken beats**
Suba – Samba Do Gringa (Zero DB) - Ziriguiboom
    Mondo Grosso – MG4BB (Wideboys mix) – ?
The Beard – Someday (Phuturistix mix) – Inspirit Music

    Anyway, on with the charts.

    Peace - for now.

    ---

    1. Goldie – Believe (MJ Cole mix) – Swing City Promo Lush vocals, smooth trumpets and that unmistakable MJ Cole vibe. Limited promo copies circulating so grab ‘em quick.

    2. 4 Hero – 9 by 9 featuring Imani Uzuri (Marcus Intalex mix) – Talkin Loud Thought I was going to miss out on this one. Excellent take on 9x9 by Mr. Intalex as if the original wasn’t hot enough anyway.

    3. DJ Marky & DJ Patife feat Fernanda Porto – So Tinha Que Ser Com Voce – Movement The brazilian boys giving the UK d’n’b crew something to think about… yet again.

    4. Nos – Basics EP – Straight Ahead Recordings One half of Hidden Agenda, Jason Goddings, delivers the goods with the Swiss connection. Head straight to Au Natural for a deep, dubby 2-step affair.

    5. Suba – Samba Do Gringo Paulista (Zero DB remix) – Ziriguiboom Percussive monster with the on form Zero DB on the mix.

    6. The Beard – Someday – Phuturistix mix - Inspirit Music Still in the charts, and still making quite an impression. Soulful 2-step - taking things to the next level.

    7. Soulstice – Lockdown – Colourforms Perhaps better know for deep house, Soulstice pops up on Om Record’s sister label with some tasty 2-step straight outta San Francisco. Check the Soulstice Soul-Tek dub.

    8. Jimpster – Deep Down EP – Freerange Jamie O’Dell doing the business with three tracks of funky, downtempo grooves.

    9. NYC Reconstructed Soul – 3 of 3 - Om Records Third in the series and the second to appear in my chart. This fortnight it’ s the Kaskade mixes doing it for me. ‘Dope’ west-coast house.

    10. Nextmen – Where You’ll Find Me – Scenario Features Rodney P.

    Best of the rest…

Movement – The Brazilian Job V/A - Soul Electric Vol. 1 – Inflight Entertainement V/A - Freezone Seven Is Seven Is (SSR)
