    hey there everyone!

Some quickie, exciting glide bits to relate your way today. We're
working hard to match the heat of the streets as T.O. hits almost 30
degrees Celsius in mid April!! People are out on patios, smiling in
amazement, doing the summer like catch-up with friends thang, and, of
course, wondering what this wacky weather really means. Not gonna go
there at the moment.... just gonna enjoy while we have it and share some
news that should encourage loads of you to come enjoy along with us at
    glide and beyond. Here goes:

    Tonight!!

    Wednesday April 17
    glide
    features
MOONSTARR (PTR, Compost, Fluid Ounce etc.)
performing a LIVE PA alongside PTR co-hort
    DIALECT

    plus glide resident DJ's
    Denise Benson + Andrew Allsgood
    at Gypsy Co-op, 817 Queen St. W. ï Toronto
    no cover ï 19+ event
    416.703.5069 or mentalchatter@sympatico.ca

This will be a very special glide tonight: a real, music-loving,
friend-centric affair as we bid bon voyage to Kevin and Mano two days
before they head to Europe for a month-long tour. Essentially a practice
run of the live set they'll be touring with, Moonstarr and Dialect will
be performing a hybrid live PA / DJ set, with Kev on the gear and Mano
on the decks. Come cheer them on, show some love and support, and help
send them off with lotsa good energy. It's free too so no excuse ;-)
And yes, the Gypsy air conditioning is in full effect!

For those not keeping track (or listening to Mental Chatter as I tend to
play Moonstarr's music weekly), our Moon has been blowing up of late.
There are a number of us who've been championing him locally for years,
but at long last the spark has been lit elsewhere as well. With more
converts including folks like Gilles Peterson, and spanking new releases
out now or coming soon on labels such as Compost (Germany), Fluid Ounce
(UK) and Reinforced (UK), Moonstarr has indeed been making a name for
himself. BTW, his excellent Dupont release is now out on CD as well as
vinyl, with the CD version including a number of new tracks. Don't
    sleep!

    Next week!!

    Wednesday April 24
    glide
    features
BONOBO (Tru Thoughts, Ninja Tune ï Brighton, UK)

    alongside glide resident DJ's
    Denise Benson + Andrew Allsgood
at Gypsy, 817 Queen St. W. ï Toronto
    $8 at the door ï 19+ event
    416.703.5069 or mentalchatter@sympatico.ca

"Wonderfully dense, subtle and easy on the ear, this is chill out music
with balls, without a cliché in sight, and touched with a little bit of
    magic." - DJ Magazine

Having been a fan literally from the first note of his that I heard, I
am wayyyy excited to have Brighton, England's Bonobo join us next week.
Here's the little blurb I wrote to tell you more 'bout him:

Producer, musician and DJ Simon Green, a.k.a. Bonobo, is beyond
talented. He received immediate accolades for early releases on fresh
    indie label Tru
Thoughts, with the U.K. press then falling all over themselves to
describe his stunning album, Animal Magic . His lovely, intricate use of
quirky hip-hop breaks, horns, sitars, strings, and double bass also
caught Ninja ears. A new Bonobo album drops this year on Ninja Tune,
featuring collaborations with the likes of Mr. Scruff and Kid Koala.
It's little wonder that folks like Amon Tobin, DJ Food, Morpheus, and
Fink count themselves as fans 'cause this is genuinely gorgeous music.
Deep, sweet grooves indeed, with jazz 'n breaks blended in during Bonobo
    DJ sets.

Admission for this 19+ event will be $8 at the door. Doors open at 9pm.

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------

And I think that about wraps it up for this one. I'll be back at'cha
next week to share details on the stellar lineup of guests we have
joining us at glide in May. In the meantime, thanks for staying tuned
and hope to see you out there!

As always, this is being sent out for the love, not to annoy or infringe
on your time and space. If you would prefer not to be on this mailing
list, just lemme know and off your name shall go! Feel free to let
friends know they can subscribe. Thanks.
