    XLR8R is still worth subscribing to. I'm currently a subscriber and I've
    been pleased with its content, for the most part.

    Straight No Chaser, based in London, is an essential. I don't think it's
    too much of an overstatement to say that it is "the bible" for those of
    us into the similar styles of music that we collectively feel here.

    I haven't read it yet, but I've been hearing good things about a new mag
    out of NY called Wax Poetics. The record buyer at the local record store
    that I'm well-acquainted with swears by it. You can find more info at
    http://www.waxpoetics.com.

    The later two magazines, by the way, are quarterly.

    P.S. I've picked up a couple of two of Urb within the last few years,
    and I do agree that the overall quality has eroded. It has its uses, but
    not enough to justify a subscription IMO.
