    hello everyone!

Firstly, a huge thank-you to all who came out to glide over the past few
weeks, to check Twilight Circus Dub Sound System with us on the 23rd and
Manitoba last Wednesday, Feb 6. Big apologies if you were one of the
people who couldn't get in on either night. I'd expected them to be
busy, but not quite so much so! A great sign where support of innovative
sounds and artists are concerned, but sincerely sorry if any of you were
caught in the lengthy lineups or unable to join us at all! We hope to
see lots of you out in coming weeks... and watch out for word of special
guests joining us at glide in the Spring.

This week, a little reminder about our guest for tonight's glide, as
well as the scoop on (and ticket giveaways to) a really interesting gig
I'm part of on Friday night, called Quadrasonic. Read on...

    tonight....
    Wednesday February 13
    as part of glide wednesdays

    a Pre-Valentine’s Love Affair with
MIKE TULL (Bump 'n Hustle, 52 Inc., Roxy blu)
this funky originator joins the glide crew + brings his ‘happy music
    revue’

    with glide resident DJ's
    Denise Benson + Andrew Allsgood

    $3 at the door • 19+ event
    Gypsy Co-op, 817 Queen St. W. • Toronto

If you're a fan of funky, diverse sounds, then chances are you're VERY
familiar with Mike Tull, truly one of Toronto's unsung heroes! The man
can, and does, play anything and everything, always with class, heart
and flawless skills. From hip hop to house, jazz, reggae and rare
grooves to straight up funk (and then some!), Mike knows his music. He's
been playing 'round town since the mid '80s, pleasing crowds in venues
both large and small, and keeps music-loving peeps extra-informed
through his management role in the Bassment of HMV 333 Yonge. All he
cared for us to pass along to you is that he'll be bringing his 'happy
music revue;' the interpretation of that is up to him...and you. Come
feel, and spread, the love. xo

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Friday February 15

    QUADRASONIC

    a fresh concept in DJ'ing, featuring 4 DJ's on 8 turntables:
    Alvaro C. + Boris 'Kid Konga' +
Kevin 'Kaje' Johnson + Denise Benson

    plus live performances by
vocalist Naomi Nsombi (Giant Step, Guidance)
+ percussionists Tribalismo (Ernesto & Amadeo Ventura)
    + visuals by Ulysses

    $12 at the door • 19+ event • Doors open at 10pm
Revival, 783 College Street • Toronto

Join us as Alvaro C's vision comes to life. The idea here is that DJ's
will be mixing seamlessly in, out, and over one another all evening,
with two, three and all four of us on stage and on the decks
simultaneously at different points. Expect the sounds of house, rare
groove, funk, jazz, broken beat and of course Latin grooves as four
musical spirits come together to express ourselves freely. A fun
experiment, to say the least! FYI, brothers Alvaro and Boris C. are also
half of the wicked band Mambo Urbano; Kaje is a multi-instrumentalist
and house producer (think "Electric Funk"!) recording for labels such as
DNH and Jinxx; and Naomi Nsombi is the vocalist in Atlantis (with
producers Ron Trent and Jonathan Marron) and has recorded with the likes
of A:xus/Abacus (Guidance) and Aquanote (Naked Music). Needless to say,
I'm happy to be keeping such fine company. Add to this the percussion of
Tribalisimo (also the other half of Mambo Urbano), the visuals of
Ulysses, and the special decor that the guys have all been working on,
and this should be one of those super special parties that has people
    talking for months to come.

And now, I have two pairs of guest list spots to offer to the first two
people to e me back after Noon today (Wednesday, Feb. 13).

      ------------------------------------------------------------------------

As always, this is being sent out for the love, not to annoy or infringe
on your time and space. If you would prefer not to be on this mailing
list, just lemme know and off your name shall go! Feel free to let
friends know they can subscribe. Thanks.

    Thanks for reading and caring!
