loose joints is of course the truly wonderful arthur russell
    (http://www.geocities.com/jahsonic/ArthurRussell.html)
apart from 'is it all over my face' he also wrote, played & produced a few
other leftfield disco classics, inc 'go bang' by dinosaur L (sampled by
todd terry in 'bango'). nuphonic seems to have plans to release some of
arthurs more disco / dance oriented material. check the disco not disco
comps for similar quality disco strangeness.

also check 'last night a DJ saved my life' by brewster & broughton for some
cool info about the disco era which should also throw up a few more
interesting names & artists. disco DJs like francis grasso and larry levan
are the ones who started getting really creative with mixing & turntables,
which led to the birth of house. if you're into this stuff, dig it. it's
cool, and some of the music is still amazing.
