    I'd read the Costello interview in Musician magazine, which leads me to
    believe that it's him that said it. I've read a biography on Elvis
    Costello, in which he is also credited for the quote. However, I'm pretty
    sure that it's neither Miles, Mingus nor Zappa who came up with the quote.
    Having read almost every biography on each of these artists, I don't ever
    recall the quote coming up from these sources. I've heard the Laurie
    Anderson and John Cage thing as well, but never really saw any credible
    source attributed to either. Certainly an interesting little mystery.......
