    Greetings,

As midnight approaches, I sit here sipping an icy cold Manhattan and fighting off pesky mosquitos nipping at my knees as I attempt to complete this weekly communique.

First, a big up to everyone who has written of late. FreeFall is now heard in over 40 countries, thanks to our friends at Radio Take 10, Netmusique and via our own archives at Live365.com. It's always a thrill to get mail from around the country, as well as from around the globe, so thanks once again.

Music: For starters, we have the new album by Ursula Rucker - Silver & Lead. This new collection of poetry set to music featuring Jazzanova, King Britt, The Roots and others, is even darker than Supa Sista and uncompromising in its depiction of brutality against women on several tracks, making them extremely unfit for radio without judicious editing. However, there are plenty of expletive-free tunes to enjoy, such as the glorious single "Release," along with "What A Woman Wants" and "Q & A." Although scheduled for release in October, neither Rucker's or K7's Web sites have any information....yet.

Two new singles appeared in the mail today courtesy of Nik Weston, who has been doing a bang-up job of helping get some fantastic new sounds out to music junkies such as myself. "Dopesnotfunkae" by Tantan is a tight, broken-beat workout from Jonatan Backelie, who most of us know as Gonkburg's very own Ernesto. Recording for the (Irma spinoff) Head To Toe label, Backelie goes the instrumental route this time and includes a nice re-rub from Cuica on the flip. A collaboration between Lars Behrenrot and T. Kolai has resulted in Talk, with their single "Touching You." A nice slice of jazzy house with three mixes to choose from and with any luck, the beginning of a fruitful partnership.

Additional singles include another broken-beat monster from Brooks ("The Distance"), post-punk dance-meisters A Certain Ratio remixed by Fila Brazilia, Gerd's "Four Flies," a live version of "Flying Wonders" from Homelife and the Rolling Stones' "Sympathy For The Devil," remixed by the Neptunes and Fatboy Slim!

There's much more, but my cocktail is getting warm and there is much else to do before calling it a night. So.....

Until next week - ciao for now,
    David
