    So another week has flown by. Man does time EVER stand still anymore? Tripping you up faster than when those double dutch skipropes got a bit outta control back in the day. Slipping into the future. Steppin into tomorrow. That's why I refuse to wear a watch...cause time always catches up and leaves you in the dust. So why monitor it?

    Yes trust us BEST KEPT gyals to give you something to think about...a big collective 'HMMMMMMMMM...'. Now stroke your chin and show us that glint in your eye...

    Always the show that knows the time, it's the:

    :::::TONIGHT:::::

    The one and only Moonstarr will be coming through the CHRY studios to drop some tunes and play some EXCLUSIVE tracks off the new 'Scattered Snares: Across the Tracks' compilation, coming fresh outta the Public Transit Recordings camp (www.ptrmusic.com) here in Toronto. Everyone and their momma's been bugging out over this man's musical output for the past little while, particularly on the remix action for Jazzanova and the solid 'Dupont and Christie' EP that dropped a little while back. Expect some absolute killer biznizz coming from him soon, with enough necksnapping action to require some delicate shiatsu care for recovery. I'll be talking to Moonstarr about 'Scattered Snares: Across the Tracks', the North American version of the landmark compilation released by Twisted Funk in 2002. It features some choons off the original release, along with exclusive broken beat action from peoples on this side of the pond. Keep your ear to the ground for the upcoming record release party, slated for late July. If you're in the Montreal area on Saturday June 21, check him out playing LIVE at The Goods @ La Sala Rosa, 4848 St. Laurent. And of course, make sure to tune into Bruck Beat Radio for Moonstarr and Dialect every Friday from 5-6 PM EST on CKLN 88.1 FM (www.ckln.fm).

    :::::LAST WEEK:::::

    Much love out to More or Les who reached uptown to chat about 'I Only Stop for Red Ants' (www.villainworship.com) and drop some damn fine headnodding hip hop that had the whole studio bouncing. Killed it! Buy that album, people! Much love out to Raynge that dropped by and grabbed up the mic to go head-to-head with Les. That freestyle was too much! Also much love out to Rahim that passed through, getting busy with the pens and chatting bout world domination. Always an inspiration!

    As always, a million and one things to do in the city, and now that the weather is hot....eeeeeeeeeesh! Nutty.

    SheStyle happening this Thursday June 20 at the Hooch (817 Queen St. W, above Gypsy CoOp). Unfortunately myself Venus nor Dalia will be in town for deck duties, so Monsieur More or Les will be dropping the gems. Special guest that night will be MC Shankhini from Vancouver, with the infamous open mic session to follow, so all you MCs and poets, REACH. Ms. Sunny D hosting the eve. Mindbender and Alexis keeping it hot. Only $3 before 11 PM, $5 after. Go get it.

     Prolly the biggest event happening this week is the 6th annual OM Summer Solstice Festival happening June 20th - 22nd. It's a gathering of open-minded individuals that come together to dance, to dream, to learn, and to live in a beautiful space every year. Tons of musics represented, everything from hip hop to house, techno to drum n bass, downtempo to all styles in between. There's also tons of workshops focussing on ecology, anti-oppression, independent media, performance art, sexuality, and war and globalization, plus the Kind Kitchen (bring up food and help with preparing and cooking, cause everyone's eating lovely!) and Centre for Alternative Living Medicine. Always a great time. Go check out Dalia spinning on Sunday June 22 on the SumKidz stage for breakdancers. yeah yeah! Tickets are $90 in advance, $120 at the door...well worth it to go for the whole weekend and camp. More info: www.omfestival.ca.
