Trust the sublety of summer in Toronto to come and slap you across the face with the fierceness. In ode to sweating while standing still, here's the BEST KEPT top 5 lab-tested approaches to enjoying as much heat discomfort as possible:

    (1) hot box your apartment by baking several batches of Deep Shit Cookies (http://bertc.com/deepshit.htm)
    (2) pair up that nice woolen scarf and mitten ensemble still at the front of your closet since last month's cold
spell with this week's shorts-and-tank-top combo
    (3) chill on a sidewalk curb in said ensemble at any downtown intersection during afternoon rush hour for
that fresh smoggy air (*note: works even better if you can hang out by the 401 or DVP)
    (4) two words: warm beer
    (5) battle for those latest 12"s at any record store in the city this Thursday...haha!

Always comfortable bringing you some hot tunes and fine radio, it's the:

Us Best Kept gyals welcome the uber-talented Zoe to the CHRY studios. This lady is one of the most multi-faceted peoples we know, dabbling in music production, songwriting, performance, teaching, and radio. Finally finding her way outta the basement studio and onto stages across the city, Zoe's been blessing audiences with her unique and utter engaging performances, fusing elements of soul, jazz, funk, folk, and afrobeat riddims. Zoe also teaches an audio production workshop geared towards up-and-coming musicians aged 16-25 for the non-profit group 4 Unity Productions in Toronto. The lady is also currently producing music for an upcoming 4Unity Productions video featuring artists involved with the project. Also well-versed in film and all its technical trappings, she hosts 'Cinephile' every Wednesday 12-1 PM EST on CIUT 89.5 FM in Toronto (www.ciut.fm), a show that explores the audio sensibility of film by focussing on composers, sound recorders, sound editors, and sound designers. And if that weren't enough, Zoe is also the guitarist and backing vocalist for More or Les Flat Out. Can I get a "hot damn!!"

Check Zoe out tomorrow night (Wed June 25th) at next edition of Raise the Rent, a night of 'artists helping artists' where all monies raised goes towards helping the featured performers get their music out, and also to charity. Zoe will be performing with beatbox master extraordinaire Jugular, alongside D'Bi Young and Embassy Crew. Providing the ambience will be DJs Murr, K2, and Moonstarr. All hosted by the truly dope Rosina. $5 or PWYC, going down at the 360 (326 Queen St. W, just E of Spadina Ave.). Come doooooooooown.
