Speaking of old school dance classics remixed recently,
    (OK.. total non sequitur here..)

Has anyone heard the 2 EP's of Manu Dibango "soul makossa" remixes that
came out recently in Europe ?

Are they fresh ? more importantly, are they funky ?
I was curious to hear them before buying. Cos sometimes they take a
perfectly funky track and turn it into a hard house blotch. Other times,
    they do it up nicely.

The first time around (in the 70;s that is) the Makossa remixes (or
rather, covers ) were pretty good. Oh we should have put that on the list
of cover songs that we were building for Velanche a few months ago. for
example Afrique: Soul Makossa , or the funky electro makossa by Nairobi.
Also a recent find : frankie Bones's "Funky Acid Makossa" for all the
raver funkateers ;), on one of the Bones Breakers EPs (#2 i think)

I digress. "Hot Music" + "Bugz in the Bassbin" = 10 years ahead of their
    time. Original broken beat !
Another old school broken beat find : Norman Connors with Jean Carne
"children of tomorrow" i think ? something like that.... super funky,
uptempo broken beat with soulful vocals that would make Fertile Ground
    fans weak in the knees!

Now playing: AfroCelts "Seeds" ... the new album ... some nice stuff on
here. Little bit sappy at times (celtic music sure is tearjerking, makes
me think of coming home scenes from British period pieces )

    peas & rice
