I will spare everyone the turkey, stuffing, over indulgance and spending beyond one's means jokes and other boring seasonal anicdotes... suffice to say that whatever you did (or even celebrated at all) I hope it was a cracker (sorry - no more jokes after that - I promise).

The all absorbing beast that is Best Kept Secret has hits its second birthday. I'd like to feel that its been successfully parented through breast feeding stage (which was fun), growing its first set of gnashers (and losing them) as well as progress to baby crawl, its first words (which were "feed me") and take its first wobbling steps to childhood and its golden age of youth and adolesense. Over the next 4 months, there will be some very special appearnaces and announcements of new projects that Best Kept Secret will be organising, starting with....

From now until the beginning of April, Nick Matthews alongside various members of the Best Kept Secret family and friends - will perform over 30 special and one- off dates around the world to recruit new victims for our cult - culminating in a very special show in London in April. LATEST RELEASE NEWS and GOSSIP (Don't forget... It's a secret)

January usually means two things - firstly making false promises to yourself about - (a) exercising more, (b) losing weight, (c) going to the sales with the other haords of bargain hunters or (d) going away because its so bloody freezing (unless you are in a hot place - in which case its... (e) visit somewhere cold for the experience). It also usually means everyone is flat broke from all the socks, ties, chocolates and bottles of wine that they have brought their loved ones over the festive season and thus hybernate for 31 days until the next pay cheque. But - this peace and quiet can be good for the creative juices...

No rest for Yam Who? though - BKS newest recruit - ever busy on the remix tip - this latest one of the track that started it all for Sidewinder - "Ego Riot" - out now on Fenetik Music - The Bitasweet camp have a new track by J B Rose entitled "Time". Another big Bugz in the Attic remix in the pipeline of Amp Fiddler track, "I Believe You". Alex Phountzi excellent remix of Flowriders track Different Spaces (4 Lux) - released at the very end of 2003. Sparks flew whilst Bruno E was in the U.K in December. He set up camp in a studio for a week with Xan Blacq for some Brazilian inspired nu soul....fresh. The full results will be unveiled later in 2004. Still on the latin vibe, Ben Mitchell (under the moniker Sao Benetiz) releases the album project - out now on Mr Bongo. Joseph Malik has added his distinct vocals to Innocent Sorcerers tracks, "Believe & see" - released now on Fluid Ounce.

And Finally...Five Best Kept Secret artists made it to the shortlist for Gilles Peterson's All Winners List for 2003 (Bruno E, Stateless, Mitchell & Dewbury, Drumagick in the singles cateogary and Break Reform in the album cateogary) - an excellent showing I would say. Big years lay ahead for all of them.
