Our little experiment with not ror profit/educational internet radio continues to grow...
According to our server logs we have just passed the 60,000 mark for "listens" in a single
month for the first time. What that meas is that the grand total of times that the .rm files
(the files which contain the actual music stream) on the site were accessed has reached the
60,000 mark for the very first time.
That does not mean we have 60,000 listeners.
It means that the audio files on the site were accessed 60,000 times.
So translated that would be the same thing as saying that the radio station has been tuned in
60,000 times during the month.
Soul-Patrol currently has 25,000 members.
So I could guesstimate that each member has listened to Soul-Patrol.Net Radio at least twice
in Febuary?
(except of course you don't have to me a registered member to listen.....lol)
That's a pretty nice number for something that is an experiment?
My guess is that the rise in these numbers have much to do with two factors:
1. The rise in broadband capability of the average person.
2. Mike's diligence in making sure that our server can handle ever increasing levels of
uninterupted audio streaming
3. The growing Soul-Patrol Network of websites that are carrying the audio programming
Thanks to all of the Soul-Patrol members (Black Rock Coillition, Bradley Alston, Mike/Baron,
Mr C, Giant Gene, Kevin Amos, nightrain) who continue to produce outstanding educational
broadcasts for the site and thanks to all of the artists here on the site who allow us to
utilize their music as a part of the programming.
Hopefully this programming provides something worthwile to you and your children in growing
your knowlege of the past present and future of Black Music/Culture?
I guess we will continue experimenting with audio on the site, until the powers that be decide
to shut us down.
