´Great thread we have got going here. In no particular order straight from the hip
and with great Acid jazz era tracks .

Dj Cam - Friends and enemies. Dark and jazzy with snippets of Eric Dolphy´s vocal (?? or is that the introduction to Hip Hop opera ??).

Waldeck - This isnt maybe. Freaking genious production with awesome moody feeling to it and superb use of Chet Bakers vocal. Uplifting and positive lyrics.

Ace of clubs - Ace of clubs. From the compillation Acid jazz and other illicit grooves (1988) which kickstarted it all for me. Still ace ! Gilles was executive producer.

James Taylor Quartet - Wait a minute. Cause back then it was like nothing else I knew, and the break where the whole band shouts "Wait a minute" reminds me of all my friends back then shouting in unison :-)

Roy Ayers - Everybody loves the sunshine. Am saving it for extra special moments so it will last my lifetime.

Coldcut - Autumn leaves ( Irrisistible force rmx) Still sends me into gooseflesh mode.

Waldeck - Death of a piano salesman . Moody instrumental track. And in particular the whole album ; Northern lights. Classic.

United future organisation - I´ll bet you thought I´ll never find you. Because you WILL find him or her :-)

Radiohead -Climbing up the walls (Fila Brazillia rmx) Stunningly beautiful and showing FB´s at their peaking best.

Jill Scott - A long walk ( A touch of jazz rmx)

. was listening to the first 2000 black "the good good" comp recently, and was amazed at how some of the tracks struck me as a bit dated in light of later releases.

which brings the question; as u go thru your collection, which are the tracks/albums that still sound great to you through the passage of time.

      :: CAVEAT ::

you can't pick any generally considered timeless classix, i.e., black brown and beige, love supreme, kind of blue, innvervisions, and the like. these have to be releases from "our" era. i.e., the aj era and. u can't pimp your new favorite, i.e. nsm, dkd, etc.

come on. which old gems are u still rocking. still putting a smile on your face?

      I'll throw in for

      sweetback / sweetback

brand new heavies / brother sister

the roots / do u want more

      badu / baduizm

tribe called quest / low end theory

      4 hero / 2 pages

      jazzanova / remixes

sade / promise (snare sound reappeared on dkd's u know it?)

      that's 8.. whatcha got?
