STYLIN - Rare grooves, hi-tech jazz and other worldly fusions

Live online - http://www.rrr.org.au/index2.htm (see below for times)

    Hello all

First a stop press for folks in Melbourne - Nu:Tone and MC Wrec will be bringing some drum & bass pressure to Open Sesame at Honkytonks tomorrow/tonight (Thursday) after a session on Monday that was rammed and then some. Nu:Tone is the man responsible for the massive D&B rub of the disco classic "Spread Love" and has now signed to Hospital, with other releases coming through the likes of Soul:R, Beta, Chihuahua and his own Brand Nu. We'll also have Melbourne's most eclectic drum and bass DJ, JPS, who doesn't need too much encouragement to start playing hip hop, funk, soul, house, reggae, latin ...

Also this week I'll be starting a new Sunday night in the beautiful indoor/outdoor settings of Alumbra on the Yarra at South Wharf. Angela Librandi's band playing classic soul and funk gets things started in the afternoon, and I'll be taking on the full range of Stylin sounds on the decks from 9pm. Should be a great way to spend summer.

Last week's show featured some laptop liveness from once-was-Wellington's Jet Jaguar, who is now based in Melbourne and will himself take to the decks at Open Sesame on the 18th. Right now his productions (including 2 albums) are mostly available to New Zealanders, but a little fishing online should bring you closer to those dubbed-out, beat-heavy electronic goodies.

Friday's show will finally be a long-overdue feature with Melbourne's Declan Kelly, reporting from the Red Bull Music Academy in Rome. We'll also have a mix from Declan including his incredible track with Tempo Perdido.

    until then
    Ennio Styles
