    Hello all

Behind on the playlists again ...

I've been a fan of the Pharcyde since they first turned up in 1992 as unknowns on the Heavy Rhyme Experience album with the Brand New Heavies, stealing the spotlight from the likes of Gang Starr and Grand Puba. Their first album Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde is an all-time hip hop classic and they had a string of equally classic singles from that and their next album Labcabincalifornia. There was a quiet period after this where they put out the Plain Rap album and lost both Tre and Fatlip, leaving Imani and Booty Brown to carry on. Then, in the last few years records a string of amazing 12"s produced by Spaceboy Boogie X have appeared featuring Imani, Booty Brown and the Soul Unit. Most of these have been on coloured vinyl on the fantastic Props label distributed only in Japan. There's b!en an excellent Imani album too, and then the new Pharcyde album Humboldt Beginnings, much of which was produced by Spaceboy. It was nice to indulge in some of my favourites from these differ!
ent periods and great to talk to Booty Brown about the group. Brown has also now hooked me up with Spaceboy Boogie X who is putting together a mix for Stylin. Can't wait. Nice to have Imani and Booty Brown drop into Open Sesame last Thursday too.
