    ECHOES OF TIME

Some thirty odd years ago the triumph of our experiences in life brought us music that offered
us the most timely and timeless masterpieces by tremendously extraordinary, and profound
individuals. Words cannot often properly profess the weight of their intensity, their
passion, their broadness, their spirituality, sensitivities, or their expansiveness!!! As
they swept into our lives and lent their depths and talents, little did they or we realize
just what magnificence was being born! Soaring from the vastness of the ever-growing Universe
was the presentation of the bonding and blending of the most unique production this level of
    life would ever come to know. Man---drill . . . Man---Drill . . . M-A-N-D-R-I-L-L . . .
MANDRILL!!! The genius, talents, innovativeness, creativity, and skills of Carlos D. Wilson,
Louis Wilson, Dr. Ricardo A. Wilson, Wilfredo Wilson (the raw, pulsating Wilson Brothers of
“Bedford Stuy” . . . Brooklyn, NY . . . originally emanating from Panama, Central America),
and Neftali Santiago (of Beverly, NJ), the nucleus of MANDRILL, provided what some of us have
come to know as “world” music when it didn’t even have such a descriptive, illustrious name!
But, when you come to think of it in its entirety, “world” music is limiting and minimizing
the richness, and the fulfilling meal that their sound, and the substance behind it has to
offer!! There is NOTHING like them . . . at least on this planet!!! The energy, the
perpetual appropriateness of their “fathomous” (let’s add this one to Webster’s Unabridged and
the Thesaurus---smile) music, the parts of the soul that they touch, their messages . . . this
is what several of us call a BLESSING!!!

Time has moved on since their earth-shattering existence hit the street and cracked the
pavement. Movie scores (recently as well as in the earlier days of their tenure), and several
albums (also found in CD form) are accredited to their accomplishments. Performances around
the world . . . Afrika, Asia, Europe, The Americas . . . that have the audiences dancing in
the aisles, on the seats, and jammin’ like they’re trying to touch the stars in concert halls
where one would think only orchestras would be heard, and at outdoor venues where the vibrance
of the full moon adds such glorious texture to the highlights of their production, only The
Creator could have added such flavor to the delicacies! MANDRILL is something one must
experience first hand!!! Their most recent releases, “Sunshine” (that can be heard in the
movie score for the Independent Film honored by the Sundance Film Festival, “Civil Brand”),
and the reiteration that Mandrill not only “still has it goin’ on”, but has improved with time
CD/DVD “Live at Montreux 2000” shows undoubtedly that the echoes of time can do things to the
soul that only the person who’s in tune can understand!!! MANDRILL brings about this
deliverance with a style that some try to emulate, some sample, but all treasure!!!

August 20, 2005 MANDRILL will be appearing at the Carter Baron Ampitheater, 16th & Colorado
Ave., NW, Washington, D.C. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Also performing will be The Clones of Funk
and Da Drill Team featuring The One Sun Lion Ra. We’re about to see the steam, and feel the
FUNK of the living legend once again!!!!!!! Hold on like ya know you should!!! We’re in for
    the ride of a lifetime!!!!!!!!
