I'm a bit upset I didn't see this earlier - I might have gone there just
to see this. Check out the incredible band listing below!

BLUEY PRESENTS: UK FUNK ALL STARS
A Jazz Cafe exclusive as Bluey from Incognito joins forces with some of
the biggest names in UK funk for a one-off special performance.

Spread across a varied live scene, the influence of imported US funk &
soul loomed large in early ‘70s British pop, rock and jazz.

Artists like Gonzales, Joe Cocker’s Grease Band, Carol Grimes and Kokomo
headed a healthy jam band culture in the country’s pubs and clubs.

Average White Band and Cymande successfully crossed the Atlantic, while
visiting West African groups like The Funkees, Matata and Osibisa became
staples of London’s thriving live circuit.

This was the heyday of venues like the George Canning in Brixton, The
Roundhouse and the People’s Club and is an era fondly remembered by the
musicians themselves for its spontaneity and sheer quality of musicianship.

Tonight’s concert brings together a UK supergroup for one night only
playing original club and crossover hits from their original bands - an
essential celebration of soulful ‘70s British music.

The show will coincied with the release of Bluey from Incognito presents
Brothers On The Slide: The Story Of UK Funk 1969-1975, which is set for
release through Sanctuary on February 14th.

The compilation includes classics and rarities from Cymande, Linda
Lewis, Joe Cocker, Average White Band, The Equals, Jabba and more.
