    Hola,

I spent the whole weekend finishing my DVD review column for the
Rasputin Manifesto (www.rasputinmusic.com) and now my brain hurts. I
sit here trying to come up with something witty to say and all I get
is mush, but no matter - it's mostly about the music, yes?

Here are some of the items on deck for tonight's show: new from
Ubiquity, is super-tight, old-school funk from The Bamboos and the
third album from Shawn Lee's Ping Pong Orchestra, modeled after the
classic library tracks used as background for film and TV. Remember:
if you sample, do so responsibly! From Six Degrees, there's Shrift -
a luscious fusion of exotic rhythms and ethereal vocalizations from
Nina Miranda (Smoke City) and Dennis Wheatly, plus the latest edition
to the Traveler series finds a cross-section of the roster getting
the re-rub, making the original tracks even more dancefloor friendly.
There's also a new Charlie Hunter Trio disc recorded in New Orleans
last year and some classy duets from Jack DeJohnette and Bill Frisell
that were captured at the Earshot Jazz Fest in 2001. But wait,
there's more: a marvellous glitch-pop offering on the ~scape label
from Mike Shannon, New York Noise Vol. 2, gathering up crucial
singles and LP tracks from NYC's post-punk scene in the late '70s and
early '80s and some mutant jazz from Bay area guitarist John William
    Gordon.

And I thought I had nothing to say......see you tonight!

    Ciao for now,
    David
