Clubs - Chicago

Some information on Chicago sent to me by Nicolas Bamberski <nib@dlogics.com>:
Tuesdays
Stereoscopic Porthole @ Vinyl (1615 N. Clybourn) with djs james anthony, bambi (that's me), and guests. It's more of a lounge kinda thing with music ranging from acid-jazz to intelligent jungle via acid-house, hip-hop and techno :) it's a free nice thing to do from 10 till 2.

Wednesdays
Mama Got Soul at the Red Dog (North and Damen). with dj Heather spinning hip-hop, soul and rare grooves. Hip-Hop crowd.
GROOVEYARD plays heavy funk covers of Coltrane, Monk and Miles on Wednesdays at the Morseland lounge, 1218 W. Morse, Chicago. 743-5955.

Thursdays
Hip-Hop night at the Double-Door tavern (Milwaukee/Damen) with djs Heather, G-most + guest. Nice place, cheap drinks. good if you're into hip-hop. You can try the Shelter (Fulton Mkt) for a big crowd but the vibe there is more like an expensive meat market on thursdays and saturdays. Come fridays.

Fridays
Material House / Forever Souled, an underground night at the Shelter (Fulton Mkt) ciome after midnite. House music with djs Diz, Scott Song, Josh Werner and guest in the main room. Acid-jazz, hip-hop, tr*p-h*p and stuff in the Paramount lounge with djs G-Most and bambi (that's me again).

Saturdays
I have yet to find something good on saturdays :) best bet is to go to Gramaphone Records (2663 N Clark) during the day and pick up flyers for house parties or special club nights. You can try hitting Crobar or Ka-Boom to see 2000 people dancing to commercial house, but it's not that great. You can also try the Red Dog for some better house and nicer loft-like setting.

Sundays
Dub and Jungle night at the Empty Bottle on Western avenue, nice vibe & cheap drinks w/ djs from the Deadly Dragon Sound System. Glee Club at Crobar if you are into the gay diva-house scene.
Check out the Elbo Room at the Double Door.

Mondays
Gay (but mixed) night at the Red Dog. Used to be pretty good but I didn't check on that lately.

I think I covered just about everything I like, except the parties but as I said check out the flyers at Gramaphone when you come into town. Also get the latest issues of the Reader and NewCity, two free weekly papers that tell you what's happening in town as far as most club nights, concerts and stuff.
