"The Lounge" (my latest stroke of genius) is happening this Saturday night,
April 20,
at the Knitting Factory, 74 Leonard St. In an effort to show the quieter,
smoother side of AJ, I've organized our next event as a sit-down affair. I
wanted to do "The Lounge" as a contrast to our last show, which become a
bass-blaring, sweaty dance type of party that frankly, I'm not finding very
rewarding anymore.
To assist us in this effort, this list's DJ Qool Marv will strictly be
spinning ambience, and he has agreed to meet my heavy Kruder & Dorfmeister
demands. Miss Gram'ma Funk, my favorite hostess wit the mostess, will be
back as MC for the occasion.
Opening is G-Battle Project, my newest a-j discovery which some of you may
have seen at a January gig we did. Benson meets Hancock meets Prince; all
original instrumentals.
Followed by Abstract Truth -- you all MUST check out their brand new 12" --
they celebrated the release at Nell's. I'm so glad that many of you out
there will finally be able to hear what they've been doing for awhile here
in NYC...smooth vocals from Monique, with french horn, sax, and jazz guitar.
Followed by Inviolate -- we'll be experimenting this time with acidflamenco
and acidsalsa. Warning: NC-17. Breasts will be in effect.
Two seated sets, 8PM sharp and 11PM. Call the Knitting Factory for more
details and for cheaper advance seating: 212-219-3006.
See you there!
