word. its getting tired. djs gotta be more on top of what 
instrumentalists do, what musical elements their craft plays off of and 
vice versa. they are certainly different, hence a lot of misunderstanding 
between people here. instead of defining what the differences are between 
these musicians, though, i think we should examine the similarities and 
how each form of making music can benefit from one another. this has just 
got to be a personal excercise, one of musical sensitivity. since many of 
us do perform, and since many of us were a bit taken aback by the 
crtiticism of acid jazz as a "commercial/crossover/revivaslist" 
phenomenon, how do we bring it to the next level (not that this hasn't 
already happened in many cases). when does this become real and not 
retro? its about musicality, open mindedness, drive to create and 
experiment, all of these things contribute to a meaningful musical 
exchange among players. with that said, go to it- create and 
dissemninate. get the people off their asses! peace-
