What else came out in the series, do you remember?? I agree "Electric Byrd is
a great album, I have it on vinyl...Also check out "Fancy Free" which is on CD.

The latest in the Blue Note "rare grooves" series came out yesterday. I had
the opportunity to listen to them all (not closely enough) at work. The one
I had to have was Donald Byrd's "Electric Byrd." It's amazing! He was
definitely listening to alot of Miles, especially, stuff like "On the
Corner." You can also hear a lot of Gil Evansesque elements in the
arrangements. The grooves are real spacey. There is generous use of delay in
the production and Airto supplies some real sparce, tasteful percussion. Oh,
and the Rhodes is in there. This is some classic shit.

Peace Out,
Matt
