I have the Grassroots CD, which is the album i think your refering to.
I think Drunkenstein is another rapper who does some back up vocals on
some of the tracks. It's an ok EP(?) but it didnt blow me away. There
are 5 tracks featuring various rappers and vocalist, none of which i'd
ever heard before.
The first is a pretty good hiphop track featureing the Hillfiguzes.
The second track is "Tricky Kid", (which as i understand also appears
in a different version on "Pre-Mellenium.") which is a weird Tricky
rap in his usual slured/mumbled style, but i like his tracks like
"Brand New, You're Retro" much better.
Then there's a track with Laveda Davis singing that has a weird
"non-drum" beat and i find it a little boring.
Then there is a track with Stephanie Cooke that i think is the best
song on the disk. It has a really cool guitar lick sampled from "I
don't want to lose your love" by the Mad Lads and a strong hip hop
beat. Her vocals are very good as well.
The last track is a rap track with Roberto Malary Jr, which is pretty
good but nothing to get too excited about.
Over all it's worth the $5 i paid for it, but it's not what i had
hoped for. Maybe the vinyl version has more tracks, i dunno.
