I liked Bar Yos, in San Pedro. Just ask arround for it and you'll find
it. They've got a nice electronic night on Wednesdays. You usually
can find info about current events there (and elsewhere) in
http://crdance.com/, check out the forums. I see there's going to be
an open air rave, but on March the 2nd :-( (that's before you are
there, isn't it?). Another thing both you and I are going to miss (or
already did) is Space Tribe. Enough will old info, for current events
check out the website...
What is it like? A few years ago a rave fever caught up in Costa Rica
and there were some *amazing* parties with good DJs. As far as I can
see, that's still the case. From what I was told, Boa and Trance are
still pretty much what you'll find, with D'n'B catching up. Just post
on the "Welcome" forum or the "Events" forum at CRDANCE and you'll get
a ton of info.
If you like Ska, you'll find a good deal of Ska bands with live
concerts in Costa Rica. In december there was a really good concert
featuring four or five band at the beach. Gorgeous. I'm sure there's
going to be something similar during Easter (although, Easter is not
the best time to go to the beach in Costa Rica).
There's also some Jazz (classic and latin for the most part) going on.
There's a place, Jazz Cafe, which features live bands every friday. If
Manuel Obregón is playing, *check him out*. No dancing here.
Then there's a whole lot of Goth activity, but I don't dig that, so I
don't know what it's like.
