STYLIN - Rare grooves, hi-tech jazz and other worldly fusions
Friday afternoons 12-2pm RRR 102.7FM, Melbourne
Live online - http://www.rrr.org.au/index2.html (see below for times)

    Hello all

Have you ever read these playlists and wondered about all the references to
"Creative Vibes"? Well, Creative Vibes is the distributor that brings much
of the music Stylin likes into Australia. Peter Pasqual is one of the dons
of that particular organisation and was kind enough to drop into Stylin last
Friday with some fine tunes. As if that isn't enough, Peter also co-hosts
the "Back to Funk" radio show on Sydney's 2SER-FM with Heidi Pasqual and
Gordon Henderson. It's on Fridays 2-4pm Australian Eastern Standard Time,
right after Stylin finishes! Peter is also part of the Plattenspiele
production outfit, who have recently signed to Austria's excellent Sunshine
Enterprises. Peter forgot to bring a CDR in with him but assures me I'll
have it very soon. You may remember the great broken jazz tune "Motor Oil" I
played on the show a little while back.

Trainspotters' Corner also featured Australian sounds from Perth-based drum
& bass producer Greg Packer who has done a serious party tune called "Fiesta
Latina" for John B's Chihuahua label. Let's hope Greg does more tunes like
this. Check for the congas and horns chopped up from Ray Barretto's 1968
latin soul classic "The Soul Drummers".

This week I'll have an interview with legendary vibraphonist, composer and
producer Roy Ayers, whose band Ubiquity will be touring Australia very soon.

    until then
    Ennio Styles
