May compilation 2013

I like Annie, coming out as a raver. I'm quite into the xxyyxx stuff - close to style of The Weeknd, but darker (how's that even possible?). Drake - good, and it's not only girls that like Beyoncé. Maylee Todd - nice remix that really makes this track. Most of all, I like Siriusmo's All the girls. Brilliant remix.

April compilation 2013

We are waiting... waiting for the new Siriusmo album (if it's anything like this first preview it should be worth the wait). The things in progress from Modeselector/Moderat (will be huge, no matter what). Waiting for the soon to be released album from Rodney Hunter (makes me happy to hear this upbeat house). Same for Kraak & Smaak's upcoming album (having Ben Westbeech on guest vocals is the new Omar 2.0, right?). And, finally, we are waiting for spring. Enough already!

March compilation 2013

Tosca is back with an album (ok), Keyshia Cole too (sadly not quite as good as we hoped), Tatham/Mensah/Lord/Ranks (fantastic broken stuff), Jazztronik with a live studio rehash (like it a lot but it's time for a real album, right?). I can't believe how many times I've played that R. Kelly track...

February compilation 2013

I'm very pleased with this month's comps. So much nice to choose from, both soft and hard style, it had to be a double! I had a hard time selecting tracks. On the first comp - Positive flow, what an album; Sweden's own Neneh released quite a strange album last year, with little more than song and sax; I know nothing about Uraz Kurt, but what a track; the re:jazz thing keeps on rolling, the album is semi-ok but we can expect more from the remixes, such as this one; if you at all are into the broken beats scene, you must buy Tatham, Mensah, Lord, Ranks' new album, maybe the best album of 2012. On the harder side - Ian Pooley's new album is heavy on rotation; we all want see more Bara bröst; thanks Matt Mellow for the heads up on Kyodai, what a killer track!

January compilation 2013

Some of the best of 2012 here. Jessie Ware definitely one of them. The KatyB track is maybe my favourite track of 2012. I never thought I'd listen to Solange but this EP is just right; I'm impressed. This track by El Perro del Mar was the best Swedish track of the year for me.

The finale. Now the work on the best of 2012 starts. A couple of highlights here: Positive flow may have released the aj album of the year, Donald Fagen's new album is just as epected, HVOB is more than decent electronica, Atjazz/Clara Hill is a perfect combo, and, we can never get enough of Âme.

September compilation 2012

Some left-overs from the summer festival season on this comp. A few surprises: Pnau's <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/reviews/vpb6">entire album of Elton John</a>'s classic songs, Snoop aka "the chimney" changing his name and going all in on reggae, Germany's <a href="http://www.ralfgum.com/">Ralf GUM</a> has a solid acidjazz album out, Guetta's lost some of his magic touch, and, iamamiwhoami are Swedish and <a href="http://youtu.be/5AqU8FvTR3E">quite scary</a>.

August compilation 2012 - one and two

I thought Jessie Ware was one of those UK pop stars made up by the label and good ads, but I was wrong. I should check her new album a bit closer. Still finding good versions on that Angela Johnson remix album, even if I believe the "normal" album is better. Grovesnor, we need more of the quality tunes, collaborations like this will do just fine. The Layabouts was a nice experience, like the guest vocals a lot. Oh, been playing Saint Etienne a lot this summer. Didn't expect that, so many years later.
