Some short notes from Vienna

I havn't gone completely crazy, but I now (sort of) am the answer to everything. So, now that I am the answer to "the Universe, and Everything" I planned to see the work of a couple of other researchers that also had answers to a lot of a questions on a grand scale, like the amazing International Encyclopedia of Unified Science - a fantastic project that of course failed.

Bought a lot of music lately but very little seems to suit the compilation. The result is somewhat mixed and a bit all over the place.

First - I'm quite satisfied with this month's selection. I havn't had the time to post lately but will try to make it on time from now on.

December compilation 2009

Oh man, that voice Eska has! Zero 7 never sounded this good before. Then some highlights from 2009, even if they normally are not my kind of music: Bat for lashes and Santigold. Nice though. Matthias Vogt - normally a piano and jazz guy - surprises with a really hard house sound. Strict club style. I first thought Fever ray sounded a bit scary, and the video is just like that. Still, it's nothing compared to Zero 7 and Ghost symbol. Check out the band's live rehearsal - it's gotta be one of the best YouTube clips of the year! Same goes for Mark de Clive-Lowe's remix of Yameen/Lady Alma. Brilliant!

November compilation 2009

Mayer Hawthorne and Benny SIngs are the highlight for me on this one. I kind of like the Shakira track, even if it is way better as video (duh). She sings a lot better in spanish and her voice is more natural.

Eating tips in Berlin, part 2

It was time again for my winter trip to Berlin. The Swedish promoters of Third Thursday mentioned they might have the November TT meeting in Berlin. Of course this was worth checking out. TT is an (very) informal meeting of Interaction Designers - to hang out, talk shop or just a normal debreifing session at a pub.

I believe I found a good mix of high and low for this one. A couple of tunes stand out.

Temporary Secretary - Compilation (2009)

A fine compilation by Dixon. Electronica all the way, with names like Âme, Jazzanova and Kruder. The now sound of Berlin. Works as headphone music, club (when played loud) or pre-club (as background groove).
