Uncut Funk was a short lifved but revolutionary periodical tabloid put out by
David Mills, who used to write for he Washington Times (and I think, later
the Post). Specialized in all sotrs of fnky music, from jazz to hip hop to
soul...had interviews with bernie worrell..well, I have Isse #1 here (Winter
1990) . 31 pps. Clinton on Cover, interviewds with Jimy Jam, Chuck D.
Malcolm mclaren, Ice T, Cynthia Johnson, and Ice Cube. There is also a story
on Rudy Ray Moore. a six writers rating their "Funkiest Albums of the '80s"
and another story on the early years of the Parliaments. I talked to mills
once for a story I was writing, and he sent me spare copies...as far as where
he is now..last I heard he was in hollywood writing screenplays. Someone told
me they saw his byline on an episode of NYPD blue...Id call someone at the
Times and see if anyone knows where he is. If you find out.e mail me
back...I'd like to know too.
