Re. Ofra Haza. She has done a couple of albums since 'Shaday'. The first
with Arif Mardin was seriously wack. The second album with Don Was from
Was Not Was is nothing short of excellent. Middle Eastern wails mixed
with Don Was's heavy duty rhythms. What is particularly meritorious about
the album is the interweaving of traditional instrumentations and rhythms
into the AfroAmerican funk rhythms which illustratye how the Middle East
is not that far from Africa.
