I picked up Omar's "For PLeasure" and I'm one happy mo-fo camper...
Funky like no one's bizness, and some great lines ("I want the stuff they
make for birds and bees"). My favorite is "I'm still standing" but I'm a
sucker for rimshot/ bass drum combos (see Massive Attack's "Five Man Army").

Channel Live is the shit, but they are pretty straight up rap, so I'll
keep it short. One's an English teacher with a BA, the other I ferget.
Hooked up with KRS-1. Great (off the beat) flow, intelligent. The
"Reprogram" mix is sweet.

Speaking of sweet, and more relevant to the list. Aceyalone's (of
Freestyle Fellowship fame) "Mic Check" didn't blow me away, but check out
the b-side: "Headaches and Woes". Straight up *be-bop* rythyms- bass,
drums, and *vibes*. Rad shit, with a nice "spoken" piece at the end (not
that "Have you had you break today" McDs spoken word crap on TV....)

Got the CD+ EP Wagon Christ "Throbbing Pouch" + "Live At Atmos" this last
weekend. Um... weee. Ra ra... Sorry if I'm a little unimpressed.
After hearing loads of positive adjectives lumped on this release, it
doesn't do much for me. My first impression was 808 State without the
exciting bits. I'll give it time, but I was disappointed when I heard
it. I'll be honest- I thought, if I had a sampler/sequencer, an 8 track,
my rent for a couple of months paid off, and access to the college
station's records (or even just my friend's collection) I could come up
with an album that could match that, if not beat it. Then again, maybe
that's all Luke Vibert (?) had himself. This is all IMHO, of course. :-)

Peace.

Outta here soon- can't wait. :-)

Greg
