hmm, this is a funny album.. honestly, I wasn't to sure what to expect as
I didn't mind the first jazzmatazz but It wasn't brilliant either.
ok.. I was actually quite disapointed with the new jazzmatazz.. it is my
opinion that Guru really holds this album back. Unfortunatly most songs
on this album seem to fall in the same mold: Guru does a rap, A female
single makes a hook in the chorus, and there is the token jazz player in
the background - Very formulated.
having said that, the guest list for the album is exceptional and won't
disapoint. although i would have liked to hear more from the guest
rappers as they were not on nearly long enough. Guru has really flooded
this album and basically I'm kinda getting sick of hearing him.
there are good songs and a fair share of bad songs (none of which spring
to mind), but i'm sure that this album will be huge and guru will be
laughing all the way to the bank.

on a slightly different topic.. I was having a little discussion with
some DJ friends of mine about the new Kushti track 'Stromboli' on
Octopus. It's kind of a light brazillian jungle thing. The album recomends
playing it at 45 rpm, but to me that sounds really wrong (kinda like some
ol' chimpmunk shit) and I always play this at 33 rpm (a much more
sensible speed for me). Just wondering what some others think on this?

And while I remember, a few days ago, I think it was Bambi that spoke
about the new DJ cam remix of Underground Vibes on the Mighty Bop EP (I
could be slightly incorrect here). He said that he didn't really think it was
jungle. fair enough, but I was just wondering what ppl think Jungle is and
what warrant's a jungle label, and how people feel about the new wave of
jungle infected hip hop/jazz type stuff..
