I guess you couldn't consider this an unbiased appraisal because I recently
started to work with them but IMHO, StepJazz is a really cool magazine, much
better in some ways(in terms of content) than On The One. On the One can seem
really fluffy BUT they do have good design ideas. When I first read OTO, I
thought it was a straight, no chaser rip-off but they have grown. SNC is better
than StepJazz, only in its' international coverage. I don't know but /I think I
like StepJazz because it treats music they way I do Jazz, Jazz(NOT JAZZ), acid
jazz, hip-hop, abstract beat stuff. it's all in one little package. Instead of
a fluffy paragraph on D*Note, you'd find an in-depth interview. Turn the page
and this cool guy Nigel is just sitting with Poncho Sanchez talking about
great Conga players and Salsa bands of the past. Turn the page,
an article about roots New Orleans music.

The key is the diversity, Anyway, that's my two cents.
