many of you already have the new TBNH 12" "Mind Trips" ....and i
wanted you to
have the scoop on what the upcoming project that 12" is from ...is all
about...
the heavies have a "new" compilation/remix album coming out on
delicious vinyl,
entitled "excursions: remixes & rare grooves".
basically, we decided to release this album owing to a couple reasons.
first,
the heavies are working on new material and it won't be until mid '96
until
we seen those tracks come to fruition on a new TBNH studio project. we
didn't
want them to disappear from the musical landscape for such a lengthy
period of
time. secondly, i have received many inquiries about obtaining some
of the
remix versions commercially. some of them were on promo only issues
and/or
were on singles which unavoidably have been deleted from our catalog.
other
tracks were ones which for one or another reasons we didn't see fit to
release
simultaneously with their Uk release via Acid Jazz/London records.

the heavies u.s. album catalog on delicious in going to be re-issued
via capitol/
cema to in store on jan. 23. its been widely unavailable for some
months due to
delicious' impending distribution switch, which is now fully in
effect.
"excursions" is going to be the centerpiece (retail wise) of this
catalog re-
release. we'd appreciate your support on any/all levels your involved
with music
(and i know you are) !
the "mind trips" 12" is already getting great early feedback from our
initial Dj
servicing. some major radio stations are looking at adding the
record...who knows
the heavies may wind up "breaking" off an album project like this
one... less than
ideal... but hay.. we'd be thrilled.
oh! i must mention, there's going to be a special ltd. edition
full-length promo
only cd, intended primarly for retail instore play .. "Excursions &
More" will be
basically a 74 minute chronological heavies "greatest hits". all the
tracks will
be ones your well familiar with, but it will have different full
packaging, and
should be a nice item for any TBNH collection. of course, i'm setting
myself up
here for lots of requests, which i probably shouldn't do, but i'm
psyched we're
doing this...should have a few to spare for "non-retail friends".
the heavies won't be touring for this project, unless the single
starts getting
very major radio action. we will be promoting a video we have for the
track "close
to you" ...and a "mind trips" video is being considered now.
