Here's a post I intended for everyone but only sent to Elson.:

Maybe a better question is wheather some cat who buys East West's "On a Jazz
Tip" sampling CD, uses their friendly charts to match keys and tempos, and
puts his or her name on a song is in fact a musician. Now I'll wade into
some hot water and claim that it takes a little bit of musical sansability
to find samples on a bunch od recordings and rework them into a new
creation--collage is an artform where maybe paint-by-number is not?

Phil

"On a Jazz Tip:
Hip Hop in full swing! 'On a Jazz Tip' is the swinging, innovative disc
that breaks new ground by presenting a 'virtual band' kicking out some
stomping grooves, licks, and loops. The licks and loops are played in
predetermined keys and tempos to be used interactively and independantly.
Includes: Bass, Guitar, Keys, Horns, Drums and Perc playing a variety of
hard and cool loops. Also included is a bebop section featuring full jazz
pads, twisted FX jazz and funk licks, riffs and chords. 'On a Jazz Tip' has
something for any music project that needs a sting, swing, or that Jazz
Thing. Played by musicians who love and respect the music."

--just in case your stinger's broken. Peace.
