Try these for size,

"Sound of Funk" - Vols 1-7 (Goldmine) Sounds like raw funk to me!

Rare Funk - Vols 1-5 (so far but there may be more) - Cobalt bootlegs
- Made in England but distributed & sold everywhere but England. These
comps are real good, especially for the soundtrack stuff.

Essential Funk Vol 1 - (RMM) Tracks include Jimmy Smiths "Root Down",
Black Rite's "Mandingo", Esther Philips cover of "Home is where the
hatred is" etc.
What's Vol II like anyone?

Funky Jams I & II (Hubbub)
Class Funk I - III (Mastercuts)
Priceless Vol 1+ 2 (Resolution)
Phat Funk (Phat)
Into Somethin - (BMG - german)

Any of the Luv N Haight compilations, although if has to be strictly
funk I'd go for Evolution myself.

Keep the funk alive in (whats left of) '95.
Gerry.

I am an avid collector of rare funk/jazz compilation albums. I have
several, but am looking for even more. Does anyone have any that they've
bought lately? If so, WHAT are they and WHERE can I get them?

For reference . . . some that I am very happy with are . . .

Breakdown - volume 1 and 2 (AWESOME! - if you don't have them ... GET THEM!)
The Funky Judge
Essential Funk Volume 2
Tell It Like It Is
Teen Tonic
Original Blue Funk
ect . . .
(P.S. Bootlegs are OK too . . . even though I wish that some of these
songs could get re-released legally!!!!)

THANKS ALWAYS AJ's,
MIKE V OUT!!!
