The LP's called Hustlers Convention. I think Lightning Rod is the name of the
guy who 'raps'. The whole album is basically his narration over more or less the
same backing track. I think you're right on the band being Kool & the Gang, but
I'm not too sure about the Last Poets connection. Maybe someone else knows more
about this. It's supposededly the soundtrack to a film which was never released
- but I don't know whether that's just hype. There's a track from the LP called
'Sport' which is one one of the Ultimate Breaks and Beats and I think it was
on a Kool & The Gang compilation a couple of years ago. Oh, and the album was
on Douglas.
