As did I see Guru and the Jazzmatazz gang last tour in Emeryville
(Oakland.) I am convinced that the club where they played was the
absolute worst venue. It was at some cheezy Jazz club called Kimball's
East. The show sucked. The first 10 minutes was Dj whoever cutting up
Jazz Thing. The next half hour was Guru, BeBe and Zachary Breaux playing
all but the good songs off the album, and finally the show concluded with
Guru and Big Shug doing "Stripped and Pistol Whipped" and other various
lame songs of Shug's... I guess it is good that Solsonics guys are
playing... but I still think that they could put on a much better show by
themselves. Check this out. I saw a Solsonics show where they were
ripping it up so hard they had to rest between numbers... and there were
about 20 people in the crowd. At Jazzmatazz, the place was packed (and
huge) and the show was lagging... go figure. I'd say don't waste your $20
IMHO.
