Ok, so maybe the title of this album is kinda cheesey. Maxwell's Urban
Hang Suite/Columbia was released on Tuesday and damn this album is good!
Well, at least the first seven tracks are. It kinda peters out after that
but the first seven definitely make this album worth getting. This album
marks a small but not insignificant turning point in my life. Why, because
this album could probably be most accurately described as one of those r&b
"smooth" albums. One of those "baby ima gonna lovya alllll night loooong"
albums. I usually hate that stuff. Tower of Power records always pissed me
off because they would have 2 or 3 good fast funky pieces and the rest would
be that lovin stuff. This record is by far the first and only smooth album
I can rave about.(ok maybe some Barry White stuff is pretty cool) The
highlight of this album is Wah Wah Watson as producer and musician. He
plays throughout the album and is possibly playing on tour with Maxwell.
Check it out!
....anybody get the new Groove Collective yet? whadya think?
