As jazz director at my radio station, I go through hundreds of
cd's a week. I found the Philosopher King's promo sitting in the discard
box (we don't generally play promo stuff if it's not on vinyl for some
reason...), and saw the guy holding the upright bass on it, so I said,
hey, and brought it home to check it out.

Granted, some of the tunes are really weak, and the album is a
tad overproduced. However, the musicianship is really strong, and I
really like the fusion of several genres present. It's funky, but it also
rocks and has soul. SO my judgement is: Album, eh, not so hot. But the
potential is there, and that gets me excited. I'd like to see the live.
It's a new taste of things, I guess, and I'll play them on my show to
liven up the flavor.

peace, funknutty groovenibbletts.
