Back in my mod days I used to spin at a ska/soul night in DC, which first got
me into dj'ing. Kaz, the singer from the Checkered Cabs, is an old friend.
Also, check out the Pietasters who do some rocksteady standards and also they
often times invite me to spin some of my old ska/rocksteady records! In my
mind the best "new" ska band around is Hepcat who do very authentic sounding
original ska. I think the Pietasters are playing here in early May and Hepcat
on June 19.
