The New-Orleans based phunk combo's live show can only be summerd up in one
word:
"Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!"

Okay, more than one: Smokin'. Intense. Whoooo-eeee! Yowza!...

With Galactic, you don't get one band, you get two, and then some. For most
of the set, Galactic is a nonstop rhythm section of funk (along with guest
tenor sax player Skerik - for most of their tour) that just don't quit.
During other times, they're a smokin' backup unit to Theryl "The House Man"
deClouet, whose soulful N'awlins wailin' takes the band to another level.
Heck, even if you were blind and deaf, you could tell the House Man was the
modern-day goodwill ambassador from the Crescent City that he is.

And then some: Not only does drummer Stanton Moore display his
Louisiana-bred groove, but he's got some Got-to go D.C. Go-Go grooves and
phat-ass hip-hop rhythms (props to his DJ-style drops!) as well. And his
little "tube" is a sight to see; he can control the pitch of his floor tom
by blowing into a tube connected to it. And not only does Skerik PLAY the
sax, but he can do some bad-ass percussive "scatting" into the mouthpiece in
between phrases.

And, please do move and groove to these guys - I normally don't get up and
dance ("Musicians don't dance" -- Shroeder from the 'Peanuts' comics) but
eventually that night I felt like I was possessed by James Brown.

San Diego, Arizona and New Mexico, look out - Galactic's gonna getcha!

(Those in Los Angeles, if there's a night to see Galactic, it's tonight at
LunaPark (665 Robertson, bet. Samta Monica Blvd & Melrose). You also get the
salsafunkhiphop of Ozomatli, the soulful grooves of Butterflow and the
simply jazzy sounds of Solar System. How can you miss?!? They're also
playing the Ash Grove on the Santa Monica Pier on Tuesday night).
