The Borders music store in downtown Seattle has done a fab job with
ordering imports (as well as keeping one of the best stocks of acid
jazz/jungle/ambient/etc. around). On a recent visit, I noticed four
different EC cd-singles, released from his new (very superior) *All This
Useless Beauty*. It looks like they were released within a four-week span
in the UK; each one features a different song from the album, and then
boasts two to three bonus cuts. The first two cds had live stuff, but the
third and fourth included cover versions of material from the new album
by Sleeper and Lush, as well as remixes by the aforementioned Tricky AND
DJ Food. Tricky's piece is pretty good, but much more memorable and
playful are DJ Food's two breakdowns of the song "LIttle Atoms." It's
great to see EC is still evolving and keeping up with the now.
