All New Yorkers at Giant Step last night were treated to a special surprise, though half the people in the club didn't know or care....

DJ Krush guest DJ'ed at Giant Step last night while Menelik rapped over his beats. It was really good, very heady, the beats were thick and slow and Menelik performed very well, though I couldn't understand a thing he said. Nickodemus, Giant Step's newest DJ, was fantastic...the energy of his sets was greater than Krush's, and his techniques are quite good. He opened and closed the show. Directly after Krush was a DJ from Paris, I forget his name but I remember something with the word jazz in it, and he was incredible too! Plus the added playing of Richard Worth, some sax guy I didn't recognize (maybe the new one that was playing with Groove Collective Saturday), and the ever-present Nappy G, along with a lot of "Giant Step in the Houuuuuse" delivered by MC Power...made for one of the best Giant Step nights I've seen in a while.
I've done a recent Groove Academy overdose, and I have to say that last night was the way it oughta be, they are really pulling it off lately, congrats to the Groove Academy for still being able to bring in fantastic guests and throw a good party. There aren't enough of them....
