Just got back from the Offbeat party thrown by the Red Hot Foundation. It
was kickin'. Mucisians included Krush, Matt from Skylab(who will be
performing later this month at Wetlands), Dj Spooky, Amiri Baraka and more.
The night started with a live band Spooky Rueben, into a jam session with
Krush, Matt and a third DJ. It got crazy. All three were working right
off each other with there own styles meshing and crashing through the
theatre.
Then Spooky met Amiri for a spoken word/dub interlude which moved
back into Matt doing some very far out disintegration mixing. John Cage
would be proud.
After Matt the crowd was treated to the turntable ninja himself.
Krush was amazing to watch and here. His touch is precise and his is in
complete sync with the wax. Anyone who has the chance to catch a show by
Krush is highly recommendded to do so.
Krush was then followed by soul coughing doing some nice
funky/punk/jazz music...
The rest gets a bit hazy...
But I have to commend Red Hot for the ambiance provided. It was a
full experience, with plethora of visual treats going on.
The new compilation is called offbeat and it is deep. If you are
looking for some new abstrakt this is a good buy. They filmed the event
so look for that release within the next six months or so(just a {very}
hypothetical guess).
Goodbye all
jeremy
