Some of us have to pay for every bit of data which comes down the
line. Here in Japan for example, every hour when our company's
modem calls up to download the company's mail by UUCP, we are not
only being charged a rate around 20 cents a minute (I believe),
but also a seperate charge for local calls. During my contract
renegotiation last year, the president of my company actually
told me personally that my account alone was costing the company
around $200/month thanks to a high volume of such text-only
transactions. At the time I had no idea, have since cut down my
usage and all, but you can bet that quoted text is one of my buggaboos...
