We had a lot of resistance to the term acid jazz in San Francisco for a
loooooong loooong time. Whenever we would produce a gig all the musicians
would not wnat to be termed acid jazz bands. Besides in SF it's probably not
accurate anyway since it almost always becomes some hybrid of hip hop jazz
and funk jazz and acid jazz and Lord who knows. What's out of England and
what going on here is probably more related on the dj scene than in the live
music scene. There was an article recently about a DJ groove summit of sorts
out here that made several ties and references to the England / SF acid jazz
DJ connection. My memory fails me or I would be more specific.
