This should mean everybody but Verve finally released Roy Ayers Ubiquity's
"Live at Montreux Jazz Festival" date from 1972. Previously available only as
an import (and a damn expensive one too), this date has some solid musicmanship
from Roy, Harry Whitaker (el. piano), Clint Houston (bass), and David Lee
(drums). In addition, the disc has 2 extra tracks (actually 3, but one is
between song banter) so you can thumb your nose at all your Japanese friends
(just kidding; joodan da yo!). Anyway, an excellent disc, one of my favorite
live recordings next to Curtis Mayfield's "Live!"
Speaking of which, Curtis' soundtrack for "Short Eyes" has also been
re-released. Groovy.
