Well the bristol community festival kicked it for the 22nd year at the
weekend... two days of whatever you fancy (usually) in the sun. Its
free and is usually juss local bands playing for nothing this year it cost
130000 quid mostly raised from sponsership/donations/car parking. Keeping
with bristols tradition of good music there were loadsa top bands, I mainly
stayed near the Trinity stage, which was kinda replaced last years jazz
big-top, and had occasionaly trip up to the dance field had a great time...
in particular, band-wise:

sourmash - jazzy funky on cup of tea, got me going...

remmy ongala - top world type bloke from tanzania, good
stuff

mammal - didnt think I'd like this one
trancy-acid-techno sound, but there stage show was fantastic with proper
dancers and stuff, really whipped up a storm at the end of saturday night

purple peguin - ben dubbisons empire grows, smart, even if
jenny thought she was wailing to much

the federation - fantastic as every, always willing to
promote the community festival vibe, pulled of the live drum and bass with no
electronics, nicely

up, bustle, and out - well what can I say, one of ninja tunes
finest apparently there first gig ever, and didn't they do well, nice

the egg - space-funk-trance-type-thing fantastic,
they had to replace smith and mighty as the lass act on sunday, and did a
mighty fine job for a band with no vocals

rythmites - verrrr nice dubby reggae type thing, verrr
niaace....

eff word - I missed em this year asherly >blush< but
they were as good as ever

smith and mighty - unfortunatly they had to cancel which was a
shame cos they were last on qand I'm sure everyone woulda gone tits up...

and thats juss some of the bands, not to mention the DJs from house to techno
to jungle, and the free parties afterwards...
